Kalona is a wedding officiate and wedding planner on Oahu since 2003. She performed her first wedding ceremony at an easily accessible and picturesque waterfall on Oahu.
The setting was magical and very tropical with towering trees, native ferns and Mango Haleconia in full bloom. The rush of the water was heard in the distance as the bride and groom walked the path up to that “happily ever after” place of bliss.
“It was a surreal experience. I was a bit nervous, but the hike helped me to release that energy. As we took our places for the ceremony to begin, the bride, groom and I were fully connected by an energy that was very calming. I went through a traditional ceremony with vows and exchange of rings. As the ceremony ended the energy rushed back up throughout my body and I was catapulted to another dimension! I knew in that very moment I was meant to do this type of service and I have done so since 2003.”
Kalona believes that a ceremony of any type should be customized for the unique desires of the bride and groom from whom it is being performed. Each couple or family we serve is given the opportunity to create the ceremony that best reflects their own personal religious or spiritual beliefs. Couples may also add an element taken from their cultural heritage or a religious prayer of their choosing. The possibilities are limitless.
She has added Filipino/Spanish traditions such as the 13 coins or the African American tradition of jumping the broom as well as Hawaiian blessings.
If you would like Kalona to perform your ceremony, please see her ceremony packages and ask her to customize them as you wish.
She is also available to travel to Kauai, Maui, Molokai, Lanai or the Big Island.
Whether a wedding ceremony, vow renewal, baby blessing (dedication) or house blessing, Kalona will support you with the ceremony you envision!
